INGREDIENTS
  • ¾ cup dark brown sugar, packed and divided
  • ¼ cup soy sauce, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 T. fresh ginger, minced
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, divided
  • 4 pounds chicken wings
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Combine ¼ cup brown sugar, one Tablespoon soy sauce, garlic, ginger and ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper in a slow cooker.
  2. Season chicken wings with salt and pepper and add to a 6 quart slow cooker.
  3. Toss wings to coat well.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours, until chicken is tender and no longer pink in the center.
  5. Remove wings to a rack on aluminum foil-lined backing sheet; set aside.
  6. In a bowl, combine remaining brown sugar, soy sauce and cayenne pepper, water and tomato paste; mix well.
  7. Brush wings with half of the sauce.
  8. Broil wings until crisp on one side, about 5-10 minutes.
  9. Turn wings and brush with remaining sauce; broil until other side is crisp, about 5 minutes.
